The Environment Performance Framework, which is currently under development, will provide guidance to support the state’s transportation system environment goal: To enhance Washington’s quality of life through transportation investments that promote energy conservation, enhance healthy communities, and protect the environment (Washington State Legislature, RCW 47.04.280, Transportation system policy goals).
WSDOT’s Environment goal aligns with several federal policies and goals, including the US DOT Policy Statement on Climate Change Adaptation (June 2011), and the multimodal aspects of WSDOT’s Mobility goal.
